Islamabad: Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir met President Asif Ali Zardari.
The Chief of Army Staff congratulated the President on assuming the post of President of Pakistan and Commander of the Armed Forces and wished him success for his tenure.
The Army Chief apprised the President of the ongoing military operations against terrorism and also highlighted the operational preparations against conventional threats. He also informed about the role of the army in the development projects including the areas of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Appreciating the exemplary role of the armed forces of Pakistan, the President said that the services of the army have been of key importance in protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state.
The President of the State expressed the national determination to give a strong response to terrorism through all elements of national power.
Asif Zardari expressed serious concern over the baseless and unjustified allegations leveled by a certain political party and its few members against the organization and its leadership for the pursuit of limited political interests, and dealt with the elements that were causing trouble with an iron hand.
