Islamabad: In the inaugural session of the National Assembly, the newly elected members took oath, after which the meeting was adjourned till 10 am tomorrow.
According to the agenda of the inaugural session, at the beginning of the inaugural session, recitation of Holy Quran, Hamad Washana and National Anthem were read, Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf administered oath to the newly elected members.
The nomination papers for the election of the Prime Minister will be collected by 2 pm on Saturday and the scrutiny of the papers will take place at 3 pm.
In the session of the National Assembly held today, 282 members of the National Assembly took oath and signed the roll of members in which the nominated Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Speaker, Asif Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto, Nawaz Sharif, nominated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Other members were included. In the meeting, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and League leader Maryam Aurangzeb were also present in the guest gallery.
Independent members protested in the house wearing masks of founder PTI, independent candidates also brought PTI flags in the house. The PTI-supported members stood on the Speaker’s seat and chanted slogans in favor of the founder PTI.
Nomination papers of Speaker and Deputy Speaker
The nomination papers submitted for the post of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly were approved.
The nomination papers of Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar for the Speaker of the National Assembly were submitted to the Secretary of the National Assembly.
The nomination papers of Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah and Junaid Akbar for the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly were submitted to the Secretary of the National Assembly.
Parliament House Security
Security has been tightened on the roads leading to the Parliament House. Serena Chowk, Nadra Chowk and D Chowk are closed for entering the red zone while Margalla Road is open for entering the red zone.
A heavy contingent of police and FC is deployed on the roads leading to the red zone, after thorough checking of the vehicles, entry into the red zone was allowed.
