In a statement released by ISPR, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir said that chaos and polarization are not suitable for a developing country with a population of 250 million. The nation needs steady hands and a healing touch to move beyond the politics of chaos and polarization.
The army chief further said that the free and unhindered participation of the people of Pakistan in exercising their right to vote is proof of their commitment to democracy. Elections are not a contest of winning and losing but an exercise in determining the mandate of the people.
General Asim Munir said that the people of Pakistan have shown their common trust in the Constitution of Pakistan. It is now the duty of all political parties to respond with political maturity and unity. He congratulated the entire Pakistani nation, caretaker government, Election Commission of Pakistan, political parties and all the winning candidates for the successful conduct of general elections 2024.
He said that the leadership and personnel of the law enforcement agencies deserve our highest praise for creating a safe environment for the electoral process despite immense difficulties. When we have passed this national milestone, we must consider where the country stands today and where our rightful place should be among other nations.
