Kuwait City: The Emir of Kuwait appointed Al-Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah as the new Crown Prince of the Kingdom.
According to Arab media, the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, appointed 71-year-old Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, who is one of the senior figures of Kuwait’s ruling family, Al-Sabah, as the crown prince.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid has held important positions such as former diplomat, prime minister, foreign minister, information minister and head of the National Security Agency.
The new Crown Prince Al-Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid was born in 1953 and after graduating with a degree in Political Science from Kuwait University in 1977, he became a Diplomatic Attaché in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and held various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs until 1995.
Later, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid was appointed ambassador to Saudi Arabia. In 1998 he served as the head of the National Security Service alongside the Minister of Foreign Affairs and then in 2006 as Minister of Social Affairs and Labour.
Later, he was appointed Minister of Information in 2008, but in 2011, considering his experience in foreign affairs, he was given the post of Foreign Minister and the following year, Deputy Prime Minister.
In 2019, the former emir of Kuwait elected him as the prime minister and entrusted him with the responsibility of forming a new government. The following year, the former Amir of Kuwait, Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, chose to form a second government under his leadership.
