Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamir Faruq is likely to constitute a larger bench for contempt of court proceedings against Justice Babar Sattar over the social media campaign.
According to the report, the bench will hear the matter today (Tuesday).
Sources said that after the personal information of him and his family, including the US residence permit, was posted on social media, Justice Babar Sattar has requested Chief Justice Aamir Faruq to take contempt of court action.
Justice Sattar pointed out that privacy of his family members was violated, their identity cards and permanent resident cards were uploaded on social media.
It should be noted that on April 28, the Islamabad High Court issued a statement on the social media campaign against Justice Babar Sattar.
In the statement, the Islamabad High Court gave clarification on Justice Babar Sattar’s green card, American citizenship of children, American properties and family business.
According to the statement, Justice Babar Sattar studied at Oxford Law College and Howard Law College, he practiced in America and in 2005, Justice Babar Sattar left the American job and came to Pakistan and since then he has been working in Pakistan. His mother has been running the school since 1992.
It was said in the declaration that Justice Babar Sattar does not have the citizenship of any country other than Pakistan at that time, the then Chief Justice was aware of the green card of Justice Babar Sattar, after Justice Babar Sattar became a judge, his children settled in Pakistan.
In the declaration, it was stated that the property of Justice Babar Sattar in Pakistan and America is present in the tax returns.
It was further stated that a defamatory and baseless campaign is being conducted against Justice Babar Sattar on social media, confidential information of Justice Babar Sattar is being posted and reposted on social media, Justice Babar Sattar, his wife and Children’s travel documents are being posted on social media.
It should be remembered that Justice Babar Sattar is one of the 6 judges of the Islamabad High Court who have complained of interference in judicial affairs by the country’s intelligence agency.
