ISLAMABAD: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has predicted an increase in Pakistan’s trade deficit during the upcoming financial year 2024-25.
According to sources, the IMF has estimated an increase in Pakistan’s exports and imports in the new fiscal year. In the new fiscal year, Pakistan’s trade deficit is likely to increase by 4 billion 165 million dollars.
According to the IMF, Pakistan’s trade deficit may increase to more than 27 billion 920 million dollars next year. In the next fiscal year, imports are estimated to increase by 5 billion 517 million dollars. The volume of imports in the new financial year has been predicted by the IMF to be 60 billion 48 million dollars.
In the new financial year, Pakistan’s exports are likely to increase by one billion 352 million dollars. According to the sources of the Ministry of Finance, the exports of Pakistan in the next financial year are estimated to be 32 billion 56 million dollars. Pakistan’s trade deficit in the current financial year is expected to be 23 billion 76 million dollars. Exports are expected to reach 31 billion 20 million dollars by the end of this financial year.
