Tehran: The funeral prayers of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian and others who died in a helicopter accident will be performed today.
A 5-day mourning period has been announced in Iran after the death of high-profile figures in a helicopter crash.
It should be noted that Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi was returning to Tabriz after the inauguration of a dam in the border region of Azerbaijan, when his helicopter crashed 100 km away from Tabriz.
The helicopter crashed in the Dizmar forest in bad weather conditions. In addition to the Iranian President, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian, Governor of East Azerbaijan Province Malik Rahmati, Ayatollah Ali Hashem, spokesman of the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, and others were in the helicopter. Local authorities were also on board.
Iran’s army chief, Mohammad Baghey, established a committee to investigate the helicopter crash, which began an investigation. The Army Chief assured to bring the investigation of the helicopter accident to the public.
