The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has given an indication to abolish Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as a party.
In its post, the ECP has raised serious questions about the recent intra-party elections of the PTI. The Election Commission has expressed concerns over the election and meetings of the General Council, Central Executive Council without party elections.
According to the Election Commission, PTI’s intra-party elections have not been held for 5 years, so how are the various party organizations working? Keeping this issue in mind, it has been suggested to terminate PTI as a party.
It may be noted that during the recent hearing of the PTI intra-party election case, the Election Commission had directed Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar Khan to submit a reply to the objections in the elections.
In this regard, Barrister Gohar said in his statement that there are 175 political parties in Pakistan, no political party has conducted intra-party elections as per the constitution. PTI had conducted the intra-party elections in light of the orders of the Election Commission and the Supreme Court.
