Washington: The spokesperson of the US State Department has said that we are committed to maintaining good relations between Pakistan and India as the US values its relations with these two countries.
According to the American news agency, during a routine news briefing, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Matthew Miller, in response to a question, supported direct talks between India and Pakistan.
Spokesman Matthew Miller added that the United States supports direct negotiations between Pakistan and India, but the pace, scope and character of these negotiations should be determined by the parties, not by the United States.
While discussing the role of the Joe Biden administration in the possible India-Pakistan talks, the US spokesperson said that we cannot say how the talks between the two countries should be carried out.
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Matthew Miller, emphasized on the strong counter-terrorism partnership with Pakistan and said that Pakistan has agreed on several programs to increase capacity against militancy through military-to-military high-level counter-terrorism dialogue.
According to Matthew Miller, the performance between the US and Pakistan for counter-terrorism will be reviewed on an annual basis. Addressing threats to regional security is a shared interest of the US and Pakistan.
