Mumbai: The suspect arrested in the shooting case at Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s house tried to commit suicide while in custody.
According to Indian media, 32-year-old Anuj Thapan, along with another accomplice, arranged the weapons used in the shooting outside Salman Khan’s Mumbai home.
Anuj Thapan supplied arms to accused Vicky Gupta and Sagar and then opened fire outside Salman Khan’s house on the morning of April 14.
Taking action, the police first arrested the accused Vicky Gupta and Sagar from Bhoj area of Gujarat state and then arrested Anuj Thapan from the Indian state of Punjab on April 26.
Now police sources told Indian media that Anuj Thapan allegedly tried to commit suicide while in police custody.
Sources further said that investigations are on as to what made Anuj Thapan attempt suicide.
It should be noted that at 5 am on April 14, 2 armed men on a motorcycle fired three rounds outside Salman Khan’s residence Galaxy Apartment in Bandra area of Mumbai and then both men escaped.
During the investigation, the accused told the police that Lawrence Bishnoi had promised Rs 4 lakh for shooting at Salman Khan’s residence.
