On the occasion of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Islamabad, security arrangements have been tightened.
According to police sources, 1 thousand 287 officers and personnel have been posted in Islamabad after installing 30 additional bridges. These bridges are being monitored by 4 SPs and 43 DSPs. Bridges were installed on Embassy Road, Sarwardi Road, Srinagar Highway, Nazimuddin Road. Bridges have also been installed on Aga Khan Road, Quaid-e-Azam University Chowk and Shahdara Road.
Police sources further say that a barricade has been set up at Sector F Six 3 Corner from Nellore, while additional barricades have also been installed at Faisal Chowk, Faisal Avenue and Nawaz Chowk. Jinnah Avenue, D Watson Fazal Haq and G Seven Loop have also been blocked. Additional gates were also installed near Faisal Avenue, Shikar Padian and Parade Ground.
The purpose of the noses is to prevent citizens from going towards the Red Zone Jinnah Avenue. Islamabad Express Highway has been closed on both sides. An alternative route has been opened from Rawalpindi to Double Road to Ninth Avenue Service Road. Another route from Rawalpindi to Islamabad is open from Faizabad to IAT service from Russia. Police and law enforcement agencies also blocked Lahtarar Road. All service roads are open for traffic coming from Rawalpindi. In Islamabad, service roads of all areas outside the red zone, including Bulwariya, are open.
According to police sources, there is a rush on the service roads from Rawalpindi to Islamabad, but the roads are open. Faizabad IJP Road towards Ninth Avenue is also open for vehicles through the service road.
