Islamabad: Due to tax disputes, it has been revealed that the federal government is stuck with two thousand 237 billion rupees.
19 thousand 899 cases in all 35 tax related offices of FBR are pending in the appeal stage, in which 1158 billion rupees are stuck, the government has started reviewing the proposal to close all 35 offices. Legislation will soon be passed by Parliament to abolish Commissioner Inland Revenue Appeal Offices.
Sources say that after the completion of the offices, the cases of the Commissioner of Inland Revenue will be transferred to the tribunal where 71 thousand 664 cases of 2 thousand 237 billion tax are already pending. Currently, 145 thousand 36 cases are pending in various courts, in which 4 thousand 236 billion tax matters are yet to be decided.
FBR officials say that currently 19 thousand 528 cases worth 740 billion rupees are pending in the four High Courts. 3455 tax related cases are yet to be decided in the Supreme Court, which are related to taxes worth 1400 billion rupees.
