Seoul: Technology company Samsung is going to add new artificial intelligence to its home appliances. Doing so, the company says, will help reduce equipment energy consumption and food waste.
These new appliances include refrigerators (which have built-in cameras that will scan foods) and washing machines (which will have the ability to change their cycles to use less energy).
The company will also introduce a new robot vacuum cleaner called the AI JetBot Combo that can move around the entire home.
According to Samsung executive Jung-Hee Yeh, the new artificial intelligence features can work much better than in the past.
Samsung is introducing these new products at a time when the technology world is busy trying to integrate artificial intelligence (which is being touted as the future of the industry) but at the same time Concerns about artificial intelligence (such as controlling it and interfering with users’ privacy) are also on the rise.
According to Samsung, these new devices are built with the ‘stringent Samsung Knox security standard’ that has been approved by security companies. Refrigerators, robot vacuums and other items encrypt user data, meaning these items ensure that detailed images and 3D maps are not available to hackers.
