KYIV: Russian Air Force warplanes targeted grid stations that supply electricity to Ukrainian cities.
The attack severely damaged the power plants, disrupted power supply to various cities, and plunged many areas into darkness.
According to international media reports, Russian warplanes fired 120 missiles, while 90 drones were also used to support them. Nine people were killed in the attack.
Sirens were sounded in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev as soon as the airstrike was reported, after which a large number of people took refuge in underground railway stations.
The Ukrainian army has claimed that it has shot down 140 Russian missiles and drones.
On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the attack and said that 210 missiles and drones were fired at the country’s energy infrastructure, causing severe damage.
