Toronto: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has responded to the arrest of three Indian citizens in the murder case of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nagar and said that Canada has the rule of law.
According to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), speaking at a Sikh heritage and culture event in Toronto, Trudeau said that Canada is a country governed by the rule of law, with a strong and independent justice system, and that our government is committed to protecting its citizens. Has determination.
Trudeau said that the investigation of the suspects arrested in the case of Nager’s murder is ongoing, along with another investigation which is not limited to the three arrested persons.
He said that many people in Canada’s Sikh community felt unsafe after Najjar’s murder, but every Canadian citizen has the fundamental right to be safe and free from discrimination and threats of violence in the country.
It may be noted that the relationship between India and Canada came under severe strain in September last year after Trudeau accused Indian agents of involvement in the killing of a Khalistan separatist leader.
