LONDON: A pharmaceutical company has warned that weight-loss injections can cause muscle contractions in patients.
Injections such as Vigovi (which act like a hormone to make the body feel full) have been approved in the UK to tackle the obesity crisis. But Pascal Soriot, owner of AstraZeneca, the famous covid vaccine, warned that the injections could cause patients to contract muscle spasms.
Doctors warned some time ago that these injections cause the user to have a higher proportion of fat than muscle and may regain weight when the medication is stopped.
According to Pascal Soriot, when using the drug, users lose weight as well as fat and muscle.
He said that as soon as most people stop taking the medication, they will start to gain fat but not muscle.
According to experts, the weight loss drug market will be worth billions of dollars in the coming years.
Pascal Soriot added that pharmaceutical companies need to improve the quality of weight loss drugs by paying particular attention to two things. Firstly, the effects of the drug should not wear off when taken and secondly, there should be no side effects such as muscle wasting.
