Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Police has registered a case against dozens of PTI workers, including founder PTI’s sister Aleema Khan.
The case was registered under provisions including violation of the Loud Speaker Act, blocking public highways and resisting government officials for holding a prayer event for the release of founder PTI and other political prisoners.
The police said that the FIR against the PTI leaders and workers was registered by SHO Sub-Inspector Sajjad Ahmed of Police Station City.
In the FIR, PTI founder Aleema Khan, Senator Sami Zaidi, Brigadier Mushtaq Ahmad, Asma Qadeer, Major Retd Iqbal Khattak, Raja Usman Tiger, Ziad Khaliq Kayani, Chaudhry Mir Afzal, Shaukat Basra, Col Retd Ajmal Saber, Tariq Aziz Bhatti, Niazullah Niazi, Shehryar Riaz, Tanveer Aslam, Seemabiya Tahir and others have been named accused.
According to the case, the accused stopped on the road in front of Liaquat Bagh Police Rescue One Five and raised slogans, on which they were asked several times to open the road and restore traffic, but they got angry and went to press club and started fighting. The accused resisted the government officials, shouted slogans through loudspeakers and obstructed traffic, following which legal action was taken against them.
The police said that no accused has been arrested yet, after registering a case, they have started legal proceedings.
