Islamabad: Following the decline in crude oil prices in the global market, petroleum prices in Pakistan are also likely to drop by Rs 14 per liter from March 16.

It is being expected that the ex-depot price of petrol, which is currently Rs 255.63 per liter, will drop by Rs 14.16 to Rs 241.47 per liter, which will provide great relief to consumers.
Similarly, the price of diesel, which is currently Rs 258.64 per liter, is likely to drop by Rs 8.70 to Rs 249.94.
Diesel is mainly used in the transportation of essential goods, the reduction in the price of diesel will make a difference in the prices of commodities, which will benefit the public.
The price of kerosene oil is likely to decrease by Rs 10.33, which will reduce the price of kerosene oil from Rs 168.12 to Rs 157.79.
The price of light diesel oil, which is used in industries, is also likely to decrease by Rs 7.12, which will reduce the price of light diesel oil from Rs 153.34 to Rs 146.22.
In addition, K-Electric customers are also likely to get a relief of Rs 4.84 per unit in terms of fuel adjustment for the month of January.
Such K-Electric customers will benefit from Rs 4.69 billion. K-Electric has submitted a petition to NEPRA to provide relief to customers, the hearing of which will be held on March 20.
K-Electric has recommended a reduction of Rs 4.84 per unit in the January fuel adjustment, however, a decision will be made after considering all factors at the hearing on K-Electric’s request.
