LAHORE: The High Court dismissed the petition filed against Nawaz Sharif’s picture on Kisan card on the basis of withdrawal.
Justice Shahid Karim heard the petition of citizen Mishkoor Hussain.
The petitioner’s lawyer said that the Supreme Court has repeatedly prohibited such personal publicity, you cannot advertise with public money, the official handout issued by the Punjab government is attached.
Advocate Punjab Government said that nothing like this is happening and this request has come prematurely. The court remarked that if the Punjab government does this, you should file the application again.
In the petition filed by the citizen, the position was adopted that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the Kisan Card with Nawaz Sharif’s photo, public funds cannot be used for personal promotion, so Nawaz Sharif’s photo is on the Kisan Card. Lagna is a violation of the constitution and the law, while using the national treasury for personal promotion is also a violation of Supreme Court decisions.
In the petition, it was requested that the Lahore High Court should stop the Punjab government from issuing Kisan cards with Nawaz Sharif’s picture and that the expenses incurred for putting Nawaz Sharif’s picture on the Kisan card should be recovered from Nawaz Sharif, pending the final decision of the petition.
