BEIJING: China and Pakistan have agreed to enhance bilateral relations and intensify cooperation under the CPEC and said that the high-quality development of the project will be accelerated as it transitions to the next phase.
The second phase of CPEC will prioritize cooperation on artificial intelligence and agricultural modernization, the parties also agreed to speed up internal procedures for early implementation of ML One and KKK restructuring projects. .
According to Gwadar Pro, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal met Zhao Chensen, Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission of China at the NDRC headquarters in Beijing. Ahsan Iqbal reiterated the Government of Pakistan’s commitment to enhance the socio-economic benefits of CPEC and significantly improve people’s lives and livelihoods. He sought continuous cooperation and support from the Chinese government for early implementation of Azad Patan and Kohala hydel power projects.
The parties also agreed to implement the Industrial Cooperation Framework Agreement and prepare an action plan to modernize the industry, agriculture and mines and minerals sectors. Both China and Pakistan will prioritize cooperation on artificial intelligence and agricultural modernization in the second phase of CPEC.
The parties also agreed to hold the next round of CPEC’s Joint Coordination Committee (JCC), which will be jointly chaired by Ahsan Iqbal, before the Prime Minister’s visit to China.
