Acting President Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has said that today we acknowledge the services of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, we also have to acknowledge the hard work of our scientists and engineers.
While issuing a message on the occasion of Takbeer Day, he said that today Pakistan has successfully demonstrated its nuclear capability and joined the ranks of nuclear powers. We faced many difficulties in our journey to become a nuclear state.
Yusuf Raza Gilani said that Takbeer Day is a proof of our nation’s steadfastness, unwavering will and determination to maintain regional peace and stability. As a responsible nuclear state, Pakistan strongly believes in peaceful resolution of conflicts.
He said that Pakistan is committed to minimum and credible deterrence of aggression, maintaining balance of power and rejecting aggression. Pakistan’s strategic capability is a powerful deterrent to aggression and a weapon of peace.
Chairman Senate said that nuclear deterrence is the basis of stability in South Asia and we are committed to uphold this principle. Our leadership and scientists faced various challenges to achieve this remarkable achievement.
The People’s Party leader said that we, as the opposition leader, also appreciate the decision of Ms. Benazir Bhutto to support Mian Nawaz Sharif’s nuclear tests. Pakistan became a nuclear state with the efforts of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
Acting President added that today we renew our commitment to continue working for peace and stability in the world. Let us learn from this success and work together to make national defense impregnable through technological and economic development.
