Pakhtunkhwa; The decision to make the Senate election subject to oath on certain seats is challenged
Peshawar: The decision to make the Senate election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa subject to oath on certain seats was challenged in the court.
Azam Swati, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf and a candidate for Senate membership, challenged the decision of the Election Commission to make the Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province subject to the oath of the elected members of the assembly on specific seats in the Peshawar High Court through the mediation of Ali Azim Afridi Advocate. Challenged.
In the petition filed in the High Court, Azam Swati has argued that delaying the Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is illegal. In the petition, the court has been requested to annul the decision of the Election Commission on March 26 and ensure the holding of Senate elections in KPK on April 2.
In the petition filed by Azam Swati, it has been further stated that the Election Commission did not hear the candidates in the Senate elections and issued the decision without hearing them. The members who were heard by the Election Commission were just elected, they did not even take oath. Petitioner Azam Swati is a candidate for Senate membership, he was not heard.
According to the application, the election process of the Senate will be affected by the decision of the Election Commission. It is the constitutional responsibility of the Election Commission to ensure timely Senate elections.
It should be noted that the Election Commission has made the Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa conditional on taking oath from the members of the assembly before being elected to specific seats.
