PESHAWAR: Many political leaders and senior officials in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa got relief after NAB amendments were restored.
After Supreme Court’s decision to restore NAB amendments, 10 cases will remain in NAB courts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In this way, the decision of the Supreme Court will benefit many political leaders in the province and many high officials.
As a result of the Supreme Court’s decision, the references of former federal minister Arbab Alamgir and his wife MNA Asma Alamgir will be sent back to NAB from the NAB courts. Similarly, the reference of former provincial minister Sher Azam Wazir will also be returned to NAB.
After the Supreme Court decision, about 170 references out of 189 references from the accountability courts of Peshawar will be returned to NAB, thus there will be more or less 10 references left for hearing by the 4 courts of NAB, in which former I.I. References of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Malik Naveed and former Secretary Workers Welfare Board Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Malik Tariq Awan are included.
The reference of Hasan Rafiq, the detained accused in the BRT scandal, is also likely to be filed. Similarly, a few references to Mudarabah and fraud scandals in the name of business will also remain for hearing.
In about 170 references returned to NAB, the value in each reference is less than 50 crores. After the decision of the Supreme Court, NAB will be obliged to send the returned references to the respective courts. The returned NAB cases will be sent to other agencies including Anti-Corruption or FIA.
