Afghanistan cricket team captain Hashmatullah Shahidi said after the historic victory against England that the team and all Afghan fans are very happy with this success. He added that our performance has improved significantly in the last two years.
Afghanistan defeated England by 8 runs in the crucial Group B match of the Champions Trophy played in Lahore on Wednesday and eliminated them from the tournament. Batting first, Afghanistan scored 325 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs, in response to which the English team was all out for 317 runs.
Speaking after the match, Hashmatullah Shahidi described Ibrahim Zadran’s brilliant innings of 177 runs as one of the best innings in the history of ODI cricket. He said that this victory will also give us confidence in the match against Australia, which will be decisive for reaching the semi-finals.
