KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has ordered to speed up investigations and measures to recover the citizens and to pay compensation to the families of the forcibly disappeared persons on the requests for the recovery of 11 missing persons including the Sige brothers.
In the High Court, the recovery requests of 11 missing persons including Sige brothers were heard. The lawyers stated that the citizens have been detained from different areas, an order should be given for their recovery.
The court expressed its anger on the performance of the provincial government and the police. Justice Arshad Hussain Khan remarked that no one realizes the grief of the families of the missing persons, just think! How difficult it must be to spend a single moment with the families of the missing.
Justice Zulfikar Ali Sangi remarked that no officer knows what the court’s orders were regarding the recovery and payment of compensation to the citizens, regretting the behavior of the police and the provincial government.
The court had ordered that compensation should be paid to the families of the forcibly disappeared. Were the police officers and secretaries sleeping for 3 months?
The police told the court that the identity of the servant has been found, but he was transferred on the next hearing. If this is not a joke with the court, what is it? The police officer said that letters have been written to various institutions, but no response has been received.
Justice Arshad Hussain remarked that we do not know when and how, steps should be taken to investigate and recover the missing persons.
The court also expressed anger at the lawyers of the federal and provincial governments for not implementing the orders regarding the case of missing persons. The court said in the remarks that the lawyers stand with the cases, they do not know anything about the cases.
The government lawyer said that the provincial government will give compensation to the people who have been determined to be forcibly disappeared, the families of some people have not submitted applications to the Home Department
The focal person of the Home Department said that the summary has been sent to the Chief Minister of Sindh to compensate those whose applications have been received.
The court ordered compensation to be paid to the families of the forcibly disappeared persons. The court also ordered steps for immediate recovery of Syed Musab, Tahir Ali, Javed, Muaz, Talha and others.
