Paris: The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that more than 40 athletes participating in the Paris Olympics 2024 have been confirmed with the coronavirus.
WHO says the virus behind the Covid-19 pandemic is still spreading and countries need to step up their response systems.

WHO Director of Pandemic Preparedness and Prevention Maria von Kerkhove said data from 84 countries showed that the rate of positive tests for SARS-CoV-2 had been increasing for several weeks.
This is important because the virus is constantly evolving and changing, leaving us all at risk of potentially more serious viruses that may escape our recognition and/or our medical interventions, including vaccination.
