Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) against a citizen for uploading an inappropriate video against clerics on social media in Bannu.
Police officials said that Abrar, a resident of Mamash Khel, had uploaded a video on social media, in which he allegedly used abusive language against clerics for not announcing the sighting of the moon of Ramadan.
He said that Maulana Abdul Ghaffar Qureshi brought the matter to the notice of the police chief, who initiated legal action.
In the FIR, the complainant Maulana Abdul Ghaffar Qureshi told the police that Abrar had condemned the clerics for not announcing the sighting of the moon of Ramadan.
He claimed that the accused can be heard saying that the moon is 2 days old, the clerics of Bannu and Pakistan have deprived us of the first fast.
Police say that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
