KARACHI: Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s only hope for a medal at the Paris Olympics, will be in action on Tuesday. World Championship silver medalist Javelin Tharoor’s preparations are underway and he is determined for positive results.
Meanwhile, the groups for the javelin throw events have been announced, with Arshad and Indian contemporaneous Neeraj Chopra in the same group.
Arshad Nadeem will come to throw at number 5, world number 5 Adis Matosevicius and number 6 Andersen Petrus are also included in their group, 90m thrower Max Denching of Germany is also part of group B.
The qualification criteria for the medal round has been increased from the previous event, this time a player with a throw of at least 84 meters will be guaranteed entry into the medal round.
A total of 12 players will make it to the final round, if the number of 84 meter throws is less than 12, the players with the best throw will qualify, in the javelin throw events, 32 players will be in action in 2 groups.
