MIRANSHAH: A chartered helicopter of Mari Petroleum Company in North Waziristan crashed due to a technical fault while taking off near Shiv oil field. The Mi-8 helicopter was carrying three foreign Russian pilots and 14 passengers including crew.
According to the sources, 6 people died and 8 were injured as a result of the helicopter crash, the injured have been taken to CMH Thal from the accident site and the injured are being transferred from Thal by helicopter.
Sources say that the accident happened due to engine failure, no evidence of sabotage was found, the helicopter had a technical fault while taking off, the tail rotor of the helicopter hit the ground while making an emergency landing. An investigation into the accident has been started.
