ISLAMABAD: In the meeting of the joint ministerial commission of Pakistan and Kuwait, an agreement has been reached on the agreement of 25 million dollars from Kuwait for the construction of Diamar Bhashadam.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the three-day meeting of the Joint Ministerial Commission of Pakistan and Kuwait ended on Friday in Kuwait. The parties agreed to further promote bilateral cooperation in various fields.
The meeting of the joint ministerial commission was chaired by Federal Minister of Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan and Kuwaiti Minister of Commerce and Industry Omar Saud Al-Omar. The parties agreed to further promote bilateral cooperation in the broader areas of economy and trade.
The parties also agreed on agreements and documents of understanding in industrial cooperation, engineering council, exchange of information, agriculture, maritime, elimination of double taxation, quality and safety standards, higher education commission.
The parties also agreed to establish working groups on trade, investment, visa and consular issues.
Federal Minister for Privatization and Investments Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized that the visa process between Pakistan and Kuwait should be mainstreamed, it will not only promote economic partnership and useful contacts but also provide employment opportunities to Pakistan’s skilled workforce in Kuwait. Opportunities will also be available.
He urged the Kuwaiti investors to make full use of the investment opportunities provided under the platform of the Special Investment Facilitation Council in Pakistan. He welcomed the establishment of joint working groups and the consensus on the MoU.
Kazim Niaz, the head of the technical group of the Pakistani delegation and the secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, expressed the hope that the meeting of the joint ministerial commission will promote coordination and cooperation in trade, education, science, culture and other fields.
