Dunedin: A study has revealed that eating kiwi fruit can improve mood within four days.
Kiwi is rich in Vitamin C. Vitamin C has always been believed to play a major role in improving human health. And now researchers believe that this fruit provides faster and longer-lasting vitamin C than vitamin C supplements.
A team from the New Zealand-based University of Otago examined the effects of diets on 155 people with vitamin C deficiency in an eight-week study.
The participants were divided into three groups, one was given a vitamin C supplement, another was given a placebo (an inactive drug with no side effects), while the third group was fed two kiwis per day. Later, these individuals reported their physical activity along with their mood, mood and sleep quality via a smartphone survey.
A study published in the British Journal of Nutrition found that kiwi showed improvement in physical and mood within four days, and this effect reached its peak between 14 and 16 days.
On the other hand, little change was observed after 12 days due to vitamin C supplementation.
Dr Ben Fletcher, who led the study, said: “This research helps us to understand that what we eat can have immediate effects on how we feel.
