Islamabad: Iranian President Dr. Syed Ibrahim Raisi has met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in which joint efforts of both countries against terrorism were agreed.
Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi arrived in Islamabad on a 3-day visit, where he was received by Federal Minister for Housing and Works Riaz Hussain Pirzada at Noor Khan Airbase. Later, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi arrived at the Prime Minister’s House and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the guest.
On the occasion of the arrival of the Prime Minister at the House, a guard of honor was presented to Iranian President Dr. Seyed Ibrahim Raisi by the troops of the armed forces and the national anthems of both countries were played. The members of the federal cabinet were introduced to the Iranian President at the Prime Minister’s House, while the Iranian President also introduced the members of his delegation to the Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Iranian President and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also planted a sapling on the occasion of Earth Day.
Later, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi had a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in which the two leaders exchanged good wishes. On this occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that after the general elections, you are the first head of state who is visiting Pakistan. The entire Pakistani nation, including me, welcomes your visit.
Iranian President Dr. Syed Ibrahim Raisi thanked the Prime Minister for the warm welcome he received upon his arrival in Pakistan. On this occasion, the two leaders had a lively discussion regarding the promotion of Iran-Pakistan bilateral relations and increasing cooperation in various fields.
In the meeting, discussions were also held regarding increasing trade and communication links between the two countries. The two leaders agreed on Pakistan-Iran joint efforts to end terrorism.
After the meeting between the Iranian President and the Prime Minister, there will be negotiations at the delegation level. The two leaders will also participate in the signing of MoUs on cooperation in various fields and the naming of a highway in Islamabad as Iran Avenue.
The two leaders will also jointly address the media. Later, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will also give lunch in honor of the visiting Iranian President and his delegation. The President of Iran will meet President Asif Ali Zardari in the evening at the President’s House. President Asif Ali Zardari will host a dinner in honor of the Iranian President and the delegation.
Iranian President, Army Chief Syed Asim Munir, Chairman Senate and Speaker National Assembly will also meet while going to Lahore and Karachi.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met the Iranian President before arriving at the Prime Minister’s House and discussed regional and global developments. The parties stressed efforts to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in all fields.
According to the spokesperson of the Foreign Office, this is the first visit of the head of state to Pakistan after the newly elected democratic government. The Iranian president is accompanied by his wife and a high-level delegation. The Iranian delegation includes the foreign minister, cabinet members and senior officials, as well as a large trade delegation. During the visit to Pakistan, issues related to trade, communication, energy and agriculture will be discussed in the meetings between the officials of the two countries.
According to the spokesman, the meeting also includes the agenda of increasing public relations and cooperation in various sectors. Besides, during the Iranian President’s visit, there will be discussions on bilateral cooperation to deal with the common threat of terrorism.
According to the spokesman of the Foreign Office, the visit of the Iranian President provides an important opportunity to further strengthen bilateral relations. The Iranian President will visit Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi during his visit to Pakistan.
