Lisbon: Researchers have introduced a new renewable energy idea that could limit the payback period on solar panels to less than five years.
A team of researchers from the University of Lisbon and the Military Academy in Portugal have created a solar farm with shade crops using a system called agri-voltaic (agri-PV) that runs on renewable energy sources. Can improve transfer speed.
The combination of agriculture and energy production due to agri-PV will add more value to land than solar farms or agricultural production alone, the researchers said.
This idea has been boosted by the falling prices of solar panels in recent years. Apart from this, the increase in population is also an important reason for which it is necessary to find new solutions in terms of food and energy production.
According to the researchers, these projects will increase green energy and reduce the use of non-renewable energy sources and also reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere.
The researchers said the idea could bring the payback period of the projects to between four and five years.
The paper, published in the Journal Energy of Sustainable Development, stated that the agri-PV concept could be applied to a variety of industries such as bee farms, greenhouses, livestock farming and horticulture.
