MUMBAI: Actress Vidya Malwade of Bollywood King Shah Rukh Khan’s film “Chak De India” has revealed that she was not given work in the series because of her beauty.
According to Indian media, Vidya Malwade said in her recent interview that director Amitaz Ali refused to cast me in the series ‘Doctor Arora’ because he thought I was too beautiful.
Vidya Malwade said that I had auditioned for the role of a housewife named Vaishali in the serial but Imtiaz Ali and his casting refused to cast me saying that you are not perfect for the role.
The actress said that for this role, Imtiaz Ali wanted to cast an actress who was not too beautiful and looked like a housewife, but I wanted to do this role, so I contacted the casting team again.
He said that I sent some of my pictures to the casting team but they didn’t like my pictures and asked me for pictures in which I look like a housewife.
Vidya Malwade said that when the call came from the casting team, I was working outside the house, I called my housekeeper, told her that I need her saree, I went home and put on her saree and Make yourself look like a perfect housewife by changing your hairstyle.
After that, I sent some of my pictures to Imtiaz Ali and requested him to say, Sir! Don’t refuse to cast me in serials because of my beauty, I can do this role well.
He added that Imtiaz Ali asked for some time to think and then after two days, he called and said that I have been cast in the series.
