Pashtun Khwa Milli Awami Party Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai has said that if Maulana Fazlur Rahman supports the constitutional amendments, he will suffer political loss while fresh elections are necessary to get the country out of crisis.
Mehmood Khan Achakzai while talking to the journalists at the central secretariat of his party said that ensuring the supremacy of the parliament and non-interference of the establishment in the country’s political affairs are some of the steps that should be taken immediately. So that the crises faced by the country can be solved.
He said that the recently formed parliamentary committee can play a role in paving the way for new elections in the country and new elections are necessary to get the country out of crisis.
He said that mistakes were made in the past as a result of which the country had to face serious crises including the secession of East Pakistan, but we still have not learned the lesson and continue to make mistakes.
Referring to the proposed amendments in the Constitution, Mehmood Khan Achakzai said that the purpose of the Constitution is to protect the rights of every citizen of the country, so necessary amendments should be made for the smooth running of the country, and in these amendments, the interests of the people and their should be made keeping in mind the needs of the while these amendments should be by consensus of the people’s representatives in the Parliament with a two-thirds majority.
