Three rugby players who gang raped a student in France have been sentenced to 14 years in prison.
According to French media, a French court has sentenced three rugby players to 12 to 14 years in prison for gang rape of a student in 2017. The players previously played for French team Grenoble. The court sentenced 30-year-old Irishman Denis Coulson and 30-year-old Frenchman Loic James to 14 years in prison and 34-year-old New Zealander Rory Grice to 12 years in prison.
The court sentenced former Ireland international Chris Farrell, 31, to four years in prison for failing to prevent the crime. New Zealander Dylan Hayes, 30, was given a two-year suspended sentence for failing to intervene to prevent the crime.
The student was gang-raped in a hotel in March 2017. Coulson, James and Grice said they had sexual relations with the victim and claimed it was all consensual.
