KARACHI: The Special Anti-Terrorism Court acquitted former Mayor Waseem Akhtar of 2 cases of incitement against state institutions in a private TV program.
Two cases of incitement against state institutions in a private TV program were heard in front of Karachi’s Anti-Terrorism Court.
The lawyer of the plaintiff’s case stated that the speech of the accused Waseem Akhtar, the former mayor of Karachi, expressed hatred and provocation towards the institutions. Waseem Akhtar tried to incite people against state institutions.
Lawyer Safai Shaukat Hayat Advocate gave a stand and said that there was no provocation in Wasim Akhtar’s conversation. Waseem Akhtar answered the questions in the program. The plaintiffs in both the cases are not the affected parties.
The court acquitted former mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar from both the cases. According to the prosecution, cases were registered against Waseem Akhtar in 2015 by Sohrab Goth and Site Superhighway Police.
