Rawalpindi: Fawad Chaudhry has written a letter to the administrative judge of the anti-terrorism courts, in which he expressed concerns regarding the cases against him.
Fawad Chaudhry has written a letter to the administrative judge of the anti-terrorism courts, Justice Malik Shahzad, regarding the cases against him in the anti-terrorism courts of Faisalabad and Rawalpindi. This letter has been written to obtain CCTV recordings and documents of the anti-terrorism courts.
The letter states that I am currently facing cases in the anti-terrorism court in Faisalabad and Rawalpindi. Despite clear instructions from the High Court, the judges are not giving access to the media and the public to the trial. Lawyers are also facing unnecessary difficulty in accessing the courtroom.
Fawad Chaudhry said in the letter that such proceedings of the case raise concerns. Proper procedures are not being followed for charge framing and deciding the applications. These measures further undermine the transparency of the judicial process.
In a letter to the Administrative Judge of the Anti-Terrorism Courts, Fawad Chaudhry further said that despite repeated requests, the trial courts are not providing important documents and evidence. Denial of access to documents violates the fair trial and effective legal defense of the accused.
He requested in the letter that the ATCs of Rawalpindi and Faisalabad be directed to take custody of the CCTV recordings. Along with this, instructions should be given to provide documents, court orders and evidentiary materials to the accused’s lawyer. In the letter, Fawad Chaudhry said that your attention to this matter is very important to maintain the integrity of the judicial process.
