Washington: Leading American businessman Elon Musk has revealed that he is working to close the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
This agency provides billions of dollars in aid annually to war-torn and poverty-stricken countries around the world.
According to a foreign news agency report, Elon Musk, while discussing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in his social media talk, said that President Trump has assigned him to head a panel to cut federal spending. Under this panel, he is reviewing institutions like USAID.
Musk reiterated that according to him, it is not possible to run USAID any longer, and he agrees with President Trump that this institution should be closed. Former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and Senator Joni Ernst have given importance to Musk’s statement and have initiated discussions on it.
