Islamabad: Electricity shortfall has reached 5 thousand 845 MW across the country.
Due to short fall, load shedding of 6 to 8 hours is going on in rural areas while the duration of load shedding has reached 4 to 6 hours in urban areas. Load shedding of 12 to 14 hours is being done in areas with line losses.
Citizens are facing severe problems due to non-supply of electricity in extreme heat.
The demand for electricity in the country is 24 thousand 500 while the production is 18 thousand 655 MW. 5,000 MW from hydropower sources, 975 MW from government thermal power plants, 8,350 MW from private sector power plants, 790 MW from wind power plants.
Similarly, 200 megawatts of electricity are being generated from solar power plants, 140 megawatts from bagasse and 3,200 megawatts from nuclear power plants.
