ISLAMABAD: The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted an application to NEPRA to raise the price of electricity, according to which electricity is likely to be increased by Rs 5 per unit for a month.
The increase has been sought in February’s monthly fuel adjustment. If the application is approved, the burden will be more than 40 billion rupees on the consumers.
According to the CPPA application, 6 billion 876 million units of electricity were sold in February, in which 24.77% of electricity was generated from water.
In February, 13.94% of electricity was generated from domestic coal and 1.89% from imported coal, 11.04% from domestic gas and 20.33% from imported LNG, while 23.29% was generated from nuclear fuel.
Nepra will hear the CPPA application on March 28.
