DARFUR: More than 67 people, including patients, were killed in a drone attack on a hospital in the Al-Fisher area of Sudan’s Darfur region.
According to Al Jazeera’s report, local social workers and hospital sources told the media that 67 people were killed and dozens were injured in the drone attack on the hospital.
The report said that the drone attack was carried out yesterday and 37 people died at the same time and now more wounded have died and the total number of deaths has reached 67.
The governor of the region, Meni Manawi, released photos of blood-stained bodies on X-rays and said that more than 70 patients, including women and children, were killed in the drone attack.
Armed fighting is ongoing between the paramilitary RSF and government forces in Sudan, but it has not yet been clarified which side carried out the attack.
The RSF has taken almost complete control of the western Darfur region in the fighting that began in April 2023 from the Sudanese army.
The capital of North Darfur, El Fasher, is surrounded by RSF personnel, but armed groups supported by the Sudanese army are not allowing these forces to take control of the area and all attacks are being repelled.
Medical centers in El Fasher have been destroyed during the ongoing fighting in Sudan, and Doctors Without Borders said in a statement that this month the Saudi hospital is the only medical center where surgical facilities are available.
According to official figures, 80% of hospitals across the country have been rendered inoperable due to fighting.
On the other hand, thousands of people have been killed so far in this terrible fighting between the two forces, millions have migrated from their areas, and a large number of the population has been deprived of basic necessities such as food.
