Dr. Rai Shabbir Ahmad has completed his PhD on Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah under the supervision of Professor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Chawla at the Department of History and Pakistan Studies, Punjab University in 2020. Currently, he is serving as the Head of the Department of History and Pakistan Studies and as an Assistant Professor at the University of Gujarat. Dr. Rai’s book consists of four chapters, in which he has endeavored to highlight the prominent aspects of the lives of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Mahatma Gandhi to his readers. There is no doubt that both these personalities have had profound impacts on the history of South Asia. Without them, the history of India and Pakistan would be incomplete. In his book, Dr. Rai presents a comparison that clearly shows that the personality of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was the sole force behind the significant contributions to the Pakistan Movement. Comparing both figures, he robustly argues that Jinnah was more successful in achieving his objectives compared to Mahatma Gandhi. The book clarifies that its purpose is not to prove one leader superior to the other, but to demonstrate which leader achieved the most for their nation. This book could lead any reader to conclude that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was the singular entity whose efforts realized Allama Iqbal’s vision of Pakistan. Originally an MPhil thesis, this book has been converted into a book form by Dr. Rai. It is an important research book published after Professor Dr. Sikander Hayat’s book on Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in 2014, providing comprehensive citations on every critical point. This book is of immense importance to researchers, educators, students, particularly those researching this subject.
