ISLAMABAD: The public braced for another power shock as electricity distribution companies demanded a hike in electricity rates by Rs 2.48 paise per unit.
Electricity distribution companies have sought permission from Nepra to levy additional charges on account of fuel charges adjustment for April 2024. The application has been filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA). The power regulator will hear the petition on May 30.
According to the CPPA report, a total of 8,639 GWh of electricity was generated in April 2024 while Rs 75.205 billion were paid to the companies. The petitioner has also decided to make backward adjustment (payment to consumers) of Rs 3.06 billion.
