Islamabad: FBR has decided to block the names of five lakh people involved in tax evasion, Chairman FBR approved it.
According to sources, the Federal Board of Revenue has identified 2 million tax evaders, but the mobile companies requested that they could not afford to block such a large number of MeeSims, on which it was decided to block 5 lakh tax evaders in the first phase. The SIMs will be blocked for which Chairman FBR has approved the blocking of SIM cards of non-filers and the Federal Board of Revenue has sent the rolls to the concerned officers.
Sources say that the FBR has the power to disconnect the SIM cards of non-filers, apart from electricity connections, special powers have been given to 145 district tax officers in the country, action should be taken against non-filers under Section 114B. Action will also be taken against those who do not submit tax returns.
According to FBR sources, in consultation with Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, 4 lakh under filers have been identified, these are people who have not filed their returns despite having taxable income. FBR will issue Income Tax General Order (IGTO) soon.
The Federal Board of Revenue had also sent notices to such persons, but they still have not submitted their returns. One lakh non-filers have been identified from FBR’s Broadening to Tax Base and their SIMs have also been blocked. will be given.
This decision has been finalized after detailed discussions between FBR, PTA and telecom operators in this regard.
