A meeting of the Canada-US Council has been called following US President Donald Trump’s announcement of possible heavy tariffs.
Speaking before a meeting of the newly formed Canada-US Relations Council in Toronto, Justin Trudeau said the country is ready to respond if Trump imposes any tariffs against Canada.
Justin Trudeau said the country is facing a critical moment. He said the response would be “forceful but reasonable.” It’s not what we want, but if they go ahead, we’ll do the same.
Trudeau added that council members have made it clear that US tariffs would have devastating consequences for the United States, endanger American jobs, raise prices for Americans and harm our collective security.
