Famous Brazilian footballer Dani Alves has been found guilty of raping a woman in a nightclub in Barcelona.
According to foreign media reports, a local court in Spain has found former Barcelona and Brazil footballer Dani Alves guilty of raping a woman in a nightclub in Barcelona and sentenced him to 4 and a half years in prison.
Star footballer Danny Alves denied the allegations against him.
Alves’ lawyer had pleaded for his acquittal, which was dismissed, but he can appeal the conviction.
In addition to sentencing Alwes, the court also ordered the victim to pay 28,500 pounds.
The court said that apart from the testimony of the victim, there is evidence which proves that she was raped.
Alves represented Barcelona in over 400 matches while winning six league titles and three Champions Leagues in two spells with the club. The renowned footballer was also part of Brazil’s 2022 World Cup squad.
