Coulomb Conference on Logistics 2024 was held in Karachi for economic development through ‘Blue Economy’. ‘Blue Economy’ is the sustainable use of marine resources for economic development, economic improvement and employment generation. Pakistan’s share in the global ‘Blue Economy’ is only 0.25%, which is the lowest in the global export market.
To improve the economy, Pakistan should utilize the Blue Economy through the ‘Special Economic Zone’. The use of traditional fishing methods, illegal fishing, corruption and dilapidated infrastructure are obstacles to the development of the ‘blue economy’.
With the support of SIFC, Pakistan urgently needs to improve and modernize the fisheries sector by adopting the latest technology and equipment. Pakistan has partnered with Maritime Anti-Corruption Network Denmark to prevent corruption in the maritime sector.
With the support of SIFC, Pakistan can also promote modern energy, maritime transport and tourism through ‘blue economy’.
