Lahore: Azhar Mehmood has emerged as a strong candidate for the assistant coach of the national cricket team.
According to sources, Azhar Mehmood is a strong candidate for assistant coach, formal announcement will be made only after 20 April after completing the formalities.
The former all-rounder will assist Gary Kirsten in white ball cricket and Jason Gillespie in red ball.
PCB had released the advertisement for assistant coach two days ago, the last date for submission of applications was set as April 20. Applications for head coaches can be submitted by April 15.
It should be noted that Azhar Mehmood has been the bowling coach of Pakistan team before, currently he is associated with Islamabad United as a bowling coach.
