More than 150 “false color whales” have been stranded on the coast of the Australian state of Tasmania, some of which are alive and are being rescued by experts.
The incident occurred near Arthur River, which is located on the northwest coast of Tasmania.
According to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania, these whales had been stranded on the beach 24 to 48 hours ago.
Brandon Clark of the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service says that returning whales to the sea can be very challenging and dangerous, and it is becoming difficult to deliver the equipment needed for rescue operations to the coastal area.
According to experts, such incidents can occur due to confusion, illness, injury or attempts by marine animals to escape predators.
